Looking to get recognized for your progeekery? Well one of my friends in the Bay Area Geek Networking group might be someone for you to check in with!
Let’s see it in his own words!
Freelance journalist and blogger Jose San Mateo is beginning a brand new contest for his website www.Jasanmateo.com called “Geek of the Week.”
This weekly feature is designed spotlight the best professional Geeks the country has to offer. If you have a career or project in tech, anime, gaming, comic books or entertainment and have a story to tell you are eligible.
This is an opportunity for Geeks that rarely have their work publicized to have the limelight and work with the media. Winners will be announced every Sunday over twitter and facebook. An interview will be conducted and a feature written during the week.
Pitch letters will be judged on their professionalism and thoughtfulness. The pitches that don’t win will be critiqued with comments sent over email. There is no limit on the entries, but a project can only be nominated once per week.
In order to enter email a pitch to info@jasanmateo.com detailing who you are and what your project is about.
Jose is a reporter with five years experience in daily journalism. He’s also a freelance writer on his spare time with bylines in GamesRadar and Oakland Athletics Magazines. He is also an avid Anime in Manga fan who writes Science Fiction and Fantasy on his spare time.

My editor has the book and I’m relaxing.
OK, yeah that’s not exactly some kind of useful GUIDE with lots of insights. But it’s the truth.
The other truth is that, in the middle of making a book, a break like this is welcome. When you do a book like this you tend to live it. Considering how fast I did “Cosplay, Costuming, and Careers” I lived that sucker pretty intensely.
I think that if you’re writing, take the editing phase as a time to relax. Unless you’re really good at pacing yourself (which I’m betting you aren’t), you need it.
Of course when it comes back then it’s a few intense days of integrating content, and THEN on to formatting. So I’m going to enjoy the break while I can.

With the recent Seventh Sanctum Outage, I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who warned me, and for the little chats in the Facebook page.
Having done this for so long, it’s easy to loose touch with how many people use and enjoy the site, and this was a good reminder. So, as I’ve mentioned I have plans to improve the site in later 2012 – and those are still on and then some. I also think it’s time to do a few more community ideas, so stay tuned and see what comes up . . .
Thanks for being there for 12 years. Anyone up for another 12?
