Latest Contest Entries!

Posted by Steven Savage on April 13, 2011

Got a bit behind on posting these – been putting them on Seventh Sanctum but not posting announcements So here's the latest for the contest that's here: [link]

And take a look and the amazing entries from the last two weeks!
The Paranoid female Half Will-o-the-wisp witch hunter. Her non-human ancestry is very obvious and not concealable. [link]
The selfless, world weary female half unicorn marine. Her appearance is a mismatched counterpart of her human and non human ancestry. [link]
The educated, innocent female half-Nightmare alchemist. She has a perfectly human head and face – but her body is that of her non-human parent's species. [link]
The ignorant male half-Unicorn diviner with repressed memories. His wardrobe is fashionable. His body is that of a human for the most part, but his head is more like that of his non-human parent. [link]
The elever, tactful male half-Unicorn watchman who fell in with the wrong crowd. His wardrobe is mysterious. His appearance is that of a normal human – but under certain conditions he turns into a member of his non-human ancestor's species. [link]
The wise, broken-hearted female half-Kirin herbologist. Her wardrobe is fashionable. Her non-human ancestry gives her a strangely attractive appearance. [link]
The miserly, private, inexperienced female half-Satyr seer searching for truth. She body is one half human – one half taking after her non-human ancestor. [link]
The educated, heroic male half-Kraken martial artist. His face hints at his non-human ancestry, but he otherwise appears human. [link]

So we've got 2 more days folks, let's go for it and get even more cool stuff!

Contest Updates!

Posted by Steven Savage on March 22, 2011

And they keep coming – and we're seeing new and old faces along with some great takes!

The contest is here: [link]

The entries are here:

  • The world-weary, introverted half-Demon witch hunter. His wardrobe is mysterious. He appears human – but those who interact with him keep getting the impression that he isn't human: [link]
  • The scatterbrained female half-Dragon soldier. She appears human – yet her shadow is always that of her non-human parent's species: [link]
  • The educated female half-Werewolf witch-hunter. Her wardrobe is revealing. She appears as an 'humanized' version of her non-human parent, but it is an attractive, not monstrous appearance: [link]

New Contest: Fantasy Fusions!

Posted by Steven Savage on February 6, 2011

You can see the contest details here: http://www.seventhsanctum.com/contests.php

This contest runs from February 1st to April 15th, Midnight EST.

What is it about fantasy adventure and crossbreeds between humans and something else? It might be the half-demon hunkiness of Inu-Yasha, the otherworldly half-humans of Lovecraft, and your usual legion of half-elves with FANTASTIC hair?

OK I don't KNOW what it's about but I do know that it gives artists a chance to get seriously creative once you toss a little magic into two sets of DNA. That's right Sanctumites, it's time to get out the pens, tablets, costumes, and more and create yourself a Fantasy Crossbreed!

Go to the Fantasy Crossbreed Generator and generate a character – and portray them artistically!

Of course you know how it goes here in Sanctumland – don't just draw, go farther! Can you give us a backstory? Can you portray the character in acton? Can you give their game stats? Can you portray them in pastry-related form?

Go for it! Do it for all the legion of characters who celebrate Father's Day or Mother's Day by trying to figure out how to mail a card to another dimension!

Rules:

  • You may make up to two entries. You may not reuse results among entries.
  • You may use other generators if you wish to add more contents or detail to the entry.
  • You may submit "for fun" entries as many times as you want. These are entries entered with no goal of them being judged, but to share with others. You may swap "for fun" and official entries at any time.
  • You may use ANY medium as long as you can eventually put it on the web as an image – painting, CGI, cosplay, sculpture, baked goods, etc.
  • You are responsible for hosting your entry in an image format at your own site, deviantart, photobucket, or another such place etc. Direct submissions of art will be rejected in most cases.
  • If your entry has nudity or mature content, you are responsible for warnings or proper classifications on the storage site. There will be a warning on the link from the contest page to the art. Please keep things within reasonable good taste.
  • If at all possible, post generator results at your hosting site so people can judge how well you followed them. I must have the generator results there, or sent to me as part of your submission, so the judges know what results you used.
  • Entries must be made specifically for this contest – previous entries or other generator-driven art may not be used.
  • Please post a link back to this page with the entry.

New Contest

Posted by Steven Savage on November 8, 2010

Full Information is here.

You know that trend of rewriting classics with fads of the moment, like zombies or steampunk, or whatever? Yeah, it's fun, but at times it gets overdone.

Now I'm not one to bow out of a trend necessarily, but I am one to mess with it. It's time for you to revise a classic . . . the Seventh Sanctum Way!

Go to the Classic Cooler and generate a "modified" classic. Your goal is to illustrate it . . .

. . . but without being silly, disrespectful, or jumping on an overlarge bandwagon. Your goal is to find a "revised" classic idea and illustrate it in some way – character picture, book cover, movie poster, game box – that is a truly serious take of whatever deranged idea you've rolled up.

Can you mix classics with zombies, anime, race cars, mutants, and more – with a straight face? Let's see what you can do!
